A vibrating beam — or beam screed — levels and compacts fresh concrete over large widths in one controlled pass. Guided over forms or rails, the beam gives large floors, slabs and pavements a uniform, compacted surface that hand screeding cannot match.

When do I choose a beam over a wet screed?

When the pour is wide or must meet a strict flatness spec. Wet screeds excel on normal-width floors with one operator; beams control wide spans with uniform compaction across the full width.

How deep does a vibrating beam compact?

Surface beams effectively compact the top 10–20 cm depending on the mix and beam type. Deeper sections should be compacted with poker vibrators first, then levelled with the beam.
